Liz has recently finished running another very successful Cook and Eat programme (our fifth one!), in partnership with Public Health Kingston. The Cook and Eat programme is all about supporting young carers to improve their diet and increase their confidence, knowledge and skills to enable them to cook simple, tasty meals from fresh and healthy ingredients.
Learning to cook is one thing but the Cook and Eat programme also seeks to raise awareness of health issues, address barriers to healthy eating (cost, time, motivation) and empower young carers to make small, realistic changes to their diet to support better physical health.
Five young carers attended the sessions once a week for 2 hours over a 6 week period; this is a real commitment and we would like to congratulate them on completing the programme! They spent each session cooking a healthy recipe and learning about healthy eating habits through fun, practical and interactive group discussions.
Liz always has a brilliant time running the Cook and Eat programmes and brings real expertise and fun to each and every session so thank you to Liz for all your hard work! We’d also like to thank Norbiton Childrens’ Centre for kindly allowing us to use their excellent facilities.
